- Allusion: "First fireman: Benjamin Franklin", Bradbury makes an alussion of Franklin because he was consider one of the first firemans that burned books in America.
- Metaphor: "... and his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the symphonies of blazing and burning..." By this metaphor, Montag shows that he is proud of his jod thats why he compares himself to a fire conductor.

- Personification: "...To shove a marshmallow on a stick in the furnace while the pigeon-winged books died on the porch..." Is a personification of a book saying that it has wings just like the birds connecting him just like it could be a dying pigeon, this means the regret of Montags work as a fireman.
